Introductory Workshop
An introductory workshop designed for all levels of athletes who want to get more from their training and recovery by understanding and improving how they breathe. We’ll focus on practical, evidence-based principles and techniques that you can use in sport and everyday life.
We will cover:
An overview of the 3 dimensions of breathing, and the 3 stages of integration
Breathing mechanics: Learn how your diaphragm, ribs, and spine work together to support strong and efficient breathing and explore ‘360’ principles to breath in any position – practicing simple techniques to make fresh links between your brain and body, unlocking old habits and introducing new ones.
Recovery Techniques: Discover how to down-regulate - steadying your breath and heart rate under pressure and manage breathlessness when it matters most. We’ll cover what really drives the urge to breathe, and why breathlessness isn’t always what it seems.
Breathing efficiency: Learn how to reduce breathing effort whilst improving oxygen delivery, making every breath count.
CO₂ tolerance: Understand the role of carbon dioxide in performance and practice skills to build your tolerance, supporting endurance and composure in tough moments.
Breath and stability: See and feel how your breathing/diaphragm contributes to core strength, spinal stability, and limb control - key foundations for balance, power and injury prevention. Understand how breath control differs with different activities and practice moving between styles.
Rhythm and flow: Explore how coordinating your breath with movement and activity can help find rhythm and flow, maintain focus and cultivate a sense of calm even when the effort is intense.
